When Jim came home from Afghanistan, he brought home new phrases and catchy sayings that he picked up from the folks he was hanging out with over the course of the year of his deployment. One of my favorite's was the way he said appreciate you in a slight southern accent.
Today was the beginning of a busy couple of weeks ahead of me. I had 45 8th grade students to match up with 45 HS students, feed and problem solve any issues that arose in the day. Today was also my student government group's turn to run backyards within the school community. I was proud of my kids for putting together a really cool contest during backyard without any help from me. The 8th grade day went smoothly in part because of the help of two great guidance councilors. My school day ended with Geof giving me a new laptop! He used some funds from a donation to buy a laptop for Joe and I because neither of us had one. So I spent my evening setting it up with my software and getting it ready to get some real work out of it. I am typing my post tonight on it right now listening to Dream Theater really loud in my ear buds. It took nearly 2 hours to transfer my music and other documents. Enough time to get a great workout in and come back to enjoy it some more. I am feeling quite a bit of appreciation for the people in my life that make work so much less stressful.
