Wednesday night, the 9th, we celebrated Jessi's 11th birthday... no big party, but the four of us girls went to TGIF and Jessi got her favorite dessert (oreo maddness). Then at home there were 11 gifts waiting for her... cute pj's, socks, new sheets, cool pink All-Stars, a sketch book, pens, SalorMoon pin set and a bunch of "Brat" crap (oops, did I write that?). She was pretty happy & I was glad she got new sheets.
Then Thursday night we went to the "OC" (Old Chicago) for Joe's birthday. Lots of "teacher fun"... it's funny because Joe reminds me so much of my high school friend, Michael, I had in high school. Mike was a new guy my freshman year... I asked him for a ride home (his mom didn't make him take the bus) and I guess I kept asking for rides (esp. after he got his license!). We became best buds all throughout high school. Joe is that kind of guy- you can ask him for a ride or out to lunch and it is always fun! Pictured is Steve G.(physics), Sacia(business), Joe(art), Beth(art), Christy (science & Joe's fiance), & Brett (special ed.& Sacia's husband)-- all educators! We are a special bunch.
Then tonight was Erika's big night. She turned 15--La Quinceanera. {A Hispanic celebration
that recognizes a girl's journey from childhood to maturity and highlights God, family, friends,
music, food, and dance.} We didn't do the tradition quinceanera, no church service or court, BUT we did do mexican food and a limo ride! I am sure she was thrilled. Her friends are all quite nice and were just as thrilled (it was a suprise). There are a couple of other family birthdays that I am unable to celebrate, but will acknowledge-- Aunt Linda, who still looks 25 so we never know how old she is. & cousin Ian, just turned two (I don't envy my brother right now).
