We started our morning with a 6am wake up call. I slept wonderfully and breakfast was great-- cafe' and croissants. We made our way to the Colosseum first off. We have educational guides piped in to our ears via headphones. Our whole group consists of 44 people, quite a few adults and pretty responsible teens. From the Colosseum we made our way to the ruins near by-- the Roman Forum. Jessi was interested interested in the Temple of Vesta where 6 women in Roman had enough power to sit with the men at the Colosseum.
After lunch we went to the Vatican. It was a lot to take in all at once. The Sistine chapel was a little disappointing because of the crowds, but I was spoiled from my time in the Hagia Sophia. St. Peter's Basilica was amazing. It was great to be able to take pictures inside. The Sistine Chapel forbid photography but I still snuck a few in.
Our tour took care of an Italian nice dinner at a nice restaurant. I have tried not to eat too much pasta, but there was a caprice salad and meat loaf and potatoes. Jessi ate the pasta and seemed to enjoy it.
Tomorrow we are going to Florence for a day trip and an evening out in Rome for our evening.
