Our EF tour was broken into 3 groups. Jessi & I were with Melissa and Jen, an art teacher from West, so my adult duties were minimal. We met our group at the Union to catch a bus to O'Hare. Jim & Monika dropped us off with little fan fair. We were the last arriving of our group. Our flight didn't leave until 4:40pm, so we had a ton of time at CHI.
Our plane was delayed but not by much. Dinner was served within the hour of our take off--chicken or beef. The drinks came after. I traded my seat with a friend of Jessi's so that the two of the could have the end together. I heard Jessi ask the steward if they had rootbeer then I heard him say say in a thick accent (we're flying Iberian Air), "Yes, beer." He then handed her a can of beer! He looked a bit concerned and asked if she was 18. Jessi took the beer but once she realized it wasn't a soft drink she handed it back and said a coke wad fine.
So we are supposed to sleep now and arrive in Madrid 7:30am. I'm hoping to get this posted at the airport there, but we don't have a lot time inbetween flights. Joe's group is going through JFK and landing earlier than we are in Rome. Once we arrive around 10:30am we will have time in the city and go out to dinner. Geof's group will arrive later- not sure how late, through Zurich.
Once in Rome I am hoping for a little time to upload photos. I brought Erika's netbook, but who knows. I'm the least prepared I've ever been for a trip. I forgot my sweater in the car and after scoping out everyone's luggage, it looks like Jessi brought the least with me closely after!
