We all slept in today, a rarity this summer. By 10am we were all up and it was HOT. Madison was up in the 90's with 90% humidity. I went to my noon power yoga class while Jim had a dentist appointment before going off to work. The girls lounged until I got back to take them to the pool. Erika had to work at 4pm and Monika had soccer at 5pm.
It's funny to watch the three of them interact; they squabble, laugh and get into hot debates about anything from books, movies, news, or history. They're an educated bunch who read, listen to music and watch a lot of movies. Today the four of us discussed getting matching tattoos once Monika turned 18. We'd all get them in different places and they would all be subtly different, but matching. I think it was decided Erika would design them. Erika shared she had considered getting a daffodil tattoo with a ribbon that pulled around and said MOM. I'm glad she didn't do that, but I think she was joking.
While I did spend some time on work this morning, emailing and planning, the day was as relaxing as can be. The heat and humidity makes it easy to sit around, read, sipping iced tea out on a lounge chair. I made hot dogs for dinner (Monika gets a bocca burger) and we enjoyed the air conditioning inside. I'm supposed to be working on my book, but I'd rather read. I'm stuck on deciding tense, but still writing some stuff down-- 6 pages in.
