So here's what I've learned so far in this past month of "fasting"...
- Liquids can be quite filling -- potato soup would be among the most filling liquids out there.
- Liquids can be quite caloric -- I don't think I've lost much weight in the past month.
- Liquids can be expensive -- Jamba Juice, Panera and Starbucks make wonderful smoothies.
- Liquids can make you make feel good -- ironically, the day I eat food (granted, not healthy food) is the day I don't feel so hot, especially while doing yoga.
- Having only Liquids unlimited for 6 days out of the week is not that sacrificial -- giving up solids and living on oatmeal for breakfast and soup for dinner is annoying at times but not what I would call a real sacrifice.
I've learned that my big Sunday breakfasts keep me full all day and not feeling all that good. I went out this morning with Monika and her best friend and found myself actually craving a bowl of oatmeal. I thought to myself, there's no way I'm wasting a Sunday free meal day on what I eat everyday! I got buckwheat pancakes in order to make feel a little healthier, and while they were delicious, so is my daily bowl of steal cut oats with raisins. My grandmother used to eat a lot of oatmeal and not just for breakfast. It was one of the few meals she could enjoy without getting an upset stomach. My mother is going vegan in order to combat her diabetes and I am thinking I'd like not to ever have to combat it, maybe I need to go vegan to prevent it? I'm already thinking about what I'm going to do after Easter... I can't just start eating anything. I think it would kill me (eventually).
