Things are slowing down, but there are still a lot of projects to juggle. Student Government is winding down, but not finished. I failed to get the rock-paper-scissors t-shirt done last week, so I'm late with that project (tomorrow!). Today at lunch a bunch of seniors were working on a video project I hope to feature images of for the newspaper. I have begun working on the senior issue of the Sword & Sheild as well as a list for our Significant Senior art awards. Students are working in my classes to finish their projects and as they do, that's all there is. Every year, I have a hand full of students who end up with nothing to do at the end of the year and I have to beg them to make stuff for our end of year art sale-- another project to prep for. The big recycling event is on Saturday, so I have to get stuff ready for that big project now (very little time for procrastinating).
Speaking of procrastination, have you heard of this "doomsday" stuff happening on Saturday? It is all over the news (I found a bunch of stuff on youtube). I'm kind of bumbed about it being this Saturday, because I have this huge recycle event and that really would be a waste of my last day being alive. I asked my students in backyard how they would want to spend their last days if this Saturday was indeed the last day of the world. Some kids wanted to burn stuff down and be super naughty. A lot of kids, as well as myself, wanted to spend some time eating. Somes kids mentioned spending money or traveling but I heard one student say that she would want to be with her family and that warmed my heart. Of course kids asked me if I thought it was true and I assured them it was not (Matt 24:36), BUT it did make me think about how I'd want to spend my last hours on Earth and collecting recyclables at school is certainly not on my list.
