After an early walk, I wrote Jessi a letter and got it off to the post office. I did a bit of housework and washed my car thoroughly, including vacuming to get ready for next week's road trip. I got to the pool earlier today to beat the crowd came home and by 1pm I felt like I had already had had a full day.
When I checked the mail this afternoon, I got a second letter from Jessi which was really just a very short note thanking me for my letters, a short list of things to send and another letter with a note asking me to deliver it to her best friend. Monika and I set off to deliver the letter and then run errands, including purchasing a bunch of stuff to send to Jessi. She asked for pretzel crisps, but we could not find them at Woodmans. It'll have to wait until the next care package. I got her regular pretzels instead.
While at the pool today, I had a mom ask me who my daughter was. I assumed she was asking about Jessi, but it ended up it was Erika she asking about. Her daughter had been friends with Erika back in elementary school. This reminded me that it was Erika who asked to be on the swim team when she was in first grade and Erika who insisted on being members of the pool every summer. Her daughter was living in Minnesota and I shared Erika was in Illinois. We both now enjoy the pool all by ourselves. I have to say it's I enjoy it just as much.
After a late afternoon walk with Balt, I ended the day watching Battleship with my husband. After Jessi was accepted into the USNA, Geof mentioned the movie to watch for some cool NAVY scenes. It's basically Alien vs. NAVY and for every good actor in the film there's a really bad one, and for every cool effect, there's a goof. I would not say it was a good movie but it makes the NAVY look pretty cool and that's all we want right now.
