Today Monika played 3 very intense games of tennis with some very good tennis players, one who, I was told, was last year's state champion (but I'm not sure it that's true). Although Monika did not win any matches, she did win a few games and seemed okay understanding that in the end it was about the experience, not the win. She was reunited with her doubles partner from two years ago and together they played a very mean game of 1 Doubles. I have put together a Facebook photo album of the team for this year that I hope to build on. The goal is to get at least one good action shot of each varisty player. I've got plenty of matches to come.
After a long day of watching tennis, my husband took me out to eat and to a movie. We went to see The Butler with Oprah Winfrey and Forest Whtaker. It is a Forrest Gump-like movie that shows the turbulent decades of the civil rights movement through the happenings of one family. I did enjoy seeing Robin Williams as Eisenhower, John Cusack as Nixon, and Alan Rickman as Ronald Reagan. Oprah is sure to get an Oscar nomination! We sat in a very crowded theater for a movie that has been out for a week already. While buying the tickets, we were told the movie has gotten more popular. I know why now. It's a must see.
