Today was our spirit video during 5th hour. I was very nervous about how it would all work out. While the video ended up being a bit too close up because the kids kept getting too close to the camera, the whole event was a grand success. My photographer asked if we could do it again next week and I said, no way. It was so exhausting and we have what we have. We got three takes and instead of taking the best one, we will edit them together and hope for one good video.
I rushed home to pick up Balt and take him for a walk in the most amazing winter weather-- sunny and 45. I got home in time to watch Jessi's swim meet at 5pm. She didn't swim right away, but it was fun to watch knowing she was there. Navy got off to a great start, winning the first medley relay. After the diving was the 800 relay. Jessi swam the second leg in the second heat. While she was swimming, we lost the connection and all three of us (Erika and Monika were home watching too!) were screaming our heads off. She took the team from 3 or 4th place to 1st! Luckily the 800 relay is a long one. We were able to see Jessi finish her last lap in the lead. It was so amazing. We were so proud of Jessi. Her relay ended up not only winning but getting the meet record! Her relay put themselves in the record book by capturing the 800 Freestyle Relay in 7:20.05. This broke the previous meet and league record of 7:20.29 set by Colgate in 2011. I suspect they are celebrating a bit tonight, but not too much. Tomorrow she swims the 50 free, on Friday she swims the 200 free and on Saturday she'll swim the 100 free as well as the 400 relay. She's off to a great start to an amazing finish to her first collegiate swim season! (click on picture below to enlarge)
