This morning at 2:30am, Jessi had to get up for a 3am tradition at the Naval Academy. For 14-hours she endured an exercise modeled after the Marine Corps’ Crucible and the Navy’s Battle Stations recruit programs. It is a capstone event for plebes that is organized by upper classman. Sea Trials provided for Jessi her final physical and mental challenge, designed to test teamwork and to reinforce the bonds in her company and class. I got a text from her at 5:07 saying "Finished! It was tough but fun" -- if you look at the photos the media turned out today, it is amazing to me she can claim it was fun! I am so amazed and so proud! Here are a bunch of photos for you to look through. I could not find Jessi in any of them: USNA Facebook, More USNA Facebook, The Baltimore Sun, AP photos, The Capitol Gazette, and USA Today,
Monika stayed home sick today. Her art teacher, my collegue Josh, hung up her art work today and I could not help but snap a photo. Her creativity is stunning. It's hard not to gush with pride for all three of my girls. Erika has one last final on Friday and then she graduates. All three girls have had a very tough couple of days. They have been so great at being supportive for each other and for me. I don't know what I'd do without them.
