Oh! What a day! I got up before 5am and worked on the paper for a couple of hours. I figured it was a lot easier than being stressed at school. I got into work with it just about finished and had the morning to enjoy small classes since all of our seniors were gone on a picnic. Although the morning started out with rain, the kids got lucky and had a perfect day picnicking at the lake. At lunch I sent out the final June issue to printing and waited patiently for the yearbooks to get delivered.
By the time the school day was over and our yearbooks had not been delivered, I started to worry. I called our company rep at Walsworth and he found out that they had indeed come to the school but the driver could not find anyone to receive them. In a building with nearly two thousand people, the driver claimed no one was here. I can believe he did not know where to go, but all you have to do is ask someone. So that left me with two choices, wait until Monday afternoon or go get them from the UPS freight office. I had 20 kids showing up at 6pm for dinner and book organizing with school distribution on Monday at 2:30pm. I really had no choice but to go get them. There were 79 boxes weighing 4,000 pounds altogether, so I could not get them in just my car. I sent out an email to staff asking if anyone had a truck and I got a call. I realized that Josh had his big SUV still at school, so I asked to borrow it. Together with Monika driving my car, my driving Josh's SUV and a social studies teacher, Mr. Kellog in his truck we managed to get them all picked up and back to the party that Josh graciously supervised while I went across town. The kids all unloaded the cars and stacked the boxes. We had a very cool opening ceremony and then we got to organizing! It was AMAZING! I let the kids sit around and look through the books as long as they wanted after we were all done. I bought 5 pies to celebrate their accomplishment, so finished the evening eating pie.
