Every year our art department takes 2 or 3 bus loads of kids to Chicago for the SOFA art show and a skip around Millennium Park. Well, today Millennium Park was closed so that the whole world could celebrate that the Cubs won the world series which was kind of a bummer... the Millennium Park being closed part but the parade was amazing and a little scary. We were there with 5 million and some kids were a little stressed out. There was a ton of stuff that could have gone wrong, but I have to admit we had some pretty pro-active adults on board to assist some very amazing high school students. Kids were really helping each other out a lot and being really careful to stay together. I've been in some big cities and big crowds, so I wasn't too anxious, but I was very aware of the anxiety around me.
We ended up walking from Millennium Park to Navy Pier and I got in a 10 mile day with 20,000 steps! It took about 45 minutes for my group to walk the distance but Geof stayed with the stragglers. Joe took his group ahead of us and Josh brought in his group last. We all had time to admire art, get a bite to eat and enjoy some sunshine! I'm planning to post more photos on Facebook. Joe was interviewed for a post in the newspaper.
