I had retirement parties on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday this week. Monday's party was my art show closing and it was by far most meaningful event I have had in years! All three girls and Jim attended as well as my teacher friends and other friends. Old and new students came by as well. A group of girls gave me a Stanley cup after I spent most of the year eyeballing all of their fancy cups. I got several plants including two beautiful orchids, lots of gift cards and tons of love!
I finished my grades last Friday so that I could focus this week on just extracting myself from the school. Taking down my show (see photos here) was by far the biggest thing I needed to attend to. Since the pandemic I have really had to keep my personal items at home, so my clean up wasn't too bad. Today I spent most of my morning connecting folks with my replacement via email and forwarding paperwork and files. Tomorrow is my last staff meeting and then I am all done! People keep asking how I am doing. I'm ready for summer. I won't feel weird or different until the fall when school starts.
