I was back in Rochester this week enjoying the cool autumn weather. We live near several farms and I can see all the corn is harvested and the fields are golden. I was at a yoga class yesterday where the teacher asked about the harvest in our own lives. I was really struck with the idea of the change in my mind set without school overbearing my thoughts and schedule. I have come to really enjoy my mornings walking with Jim, going to morning yoga and pilates classes, and having time to sit in a sauna. I did a rowing workout yesterday for the first time as I am trying to keep my workout varied-- doing 2-3 different things a day. I would say the thing I have yielded most is time to exercise and time with Jim on a daily basis rather than only having time with him once or twice a month.
That changes next week as I begin a long term sub situation at West, but I'm not really prepping for it at all. I'm stepping into a new situation that will be brand new-- new school, new students. My goal is to walk and bus every morning rather than drive and park, keep the time enjoyable, positive, productive and fun. I have a personal project I'd like to work on while students are working when there's time-- maybe there'll be lots!? We'll see. I'm good either way. It's a different feeling to be quite unencumbered as its all so temporary.
