I started a month long sub gig this Monday for a West teacher who has been undergoing chemo and is out for a surgery and recovery. The students already were aware of the situation and many ask about her recovery. I'm stepping into a unique situation a lot like maternity leave but nowhere near as joyous. The job is very familiar and the schedule is exactly what mine used to be, only completely digital (no painting, and no art experiences) so actually a bit easier. I've had many teachers come in or email me welcome. There's one teacher here who was at Memorial last year, so I have one person to check in and say hello to daily. I am enjoying working with the other art department teachers as they are extremely friendly. It's been a great week and I think it's going to be a great month
But of course, I'm missing Jim at the peak of autumn in Minnesota. He's at the peak of his busy semester so I know he's got a lot on his plate. I'm missing my yoga classes and having so much time at the gym. Monika is in New York for a conference and I'm missing out on being able to tag along with her but she was relieved I was going to be home to care of cats. Erika and I have had dinner a couple of times this week and plan to spend Saturday together. I have a long list of things to do in the condo, so I think it will be a productive month-- plus I'll be getting 2 pay checks!!
