After Christmassing in Budapest for nearly 5 days, we left by train to Slovakia. We had an amazing week celebrating the holidays the way Jim and I enjoy it the most really-- traveling and exploring other cultures. Having Erika and Monika with us makes things a bit more complicated but also more fun. Erika is not a traveler but Monika sure is. Both she and Jim did lots of research for the trip but Erika and I just showed up. It's how I enjoy traveling-- no expectations!
We arrived in Bratislava before noon and walked to our hotel-- close to several Christmas markets but went out to lunch at a local vegan cafe. Accommodating Monika's diet hasn't been too difficult. The cobblestone streets were pretty hard on my feet. I had to soak them for a while before bed. Today's mileage was 6.5 miles. Erika and I tend to lag behind. In our defense we have shorter legs and typically neither of us have any idea where we are going. It's kind of nice because if we split up, I always know to either go with Jim or Monika.
