I drove down to Madison on Thursday after my morning yoga class to visit with Monika for the weekend. She had a list of projects to work on. She had to work on Thursday and Friday, so I just spent most of the time cleaning out the garage and organizing her basement, rebuilding shelving that was in the condo for her house. The footprint of her home is way smaller than the condo but her garage is quite a bit larger and her basement is almost the same size so she has storage space for things she doesn't have room for but wants to keep. I was hoping to have a big load of stuff to donate to Goodwill, but not so much. There were quite a few items that were left behind by the previous owners that I donated (like a big xmas tree - note, Monika does not celebrate xmas). Erika swung by to look over stuff I was donating on her way to a concert with her boyfriend. While Erika doesn't live as close to Monika, her boyfriend does, which is kind of nice.
On Saturday we drove out to Ikea in Milwaukee to get some needed household items including the dining table. Monika does not have a dining room, so she needs to be very creative with how she wanted to do dining. It took her a while to decide what she wanted but she ended up with a cute set up for her living room. Erika came over for dinner so we could test the system out and it was great. She got a couple of folding chairs to put in a closet so she can host up to 4 around her table.
I purchased Jim a new lawnmower for his birthday and gave Monika our old one. Monika got to mow her lawn for the very first time! She has a very nice back yard but it is in need of quite a bit of work. It will be exciting to see how she tackles the job. While I'm at Monika's, I eat vegan with her but my morning latte is just a block away as there is a very cute donut shop close by. It is my morning treat when I stay at Monika's making for a very pleasant time. We have a few more items to tackle today before I head back to Rochester. May the 4th be with you.
