Everyone got up early today except Monika (her story after). Both Jessi and her dad had big races today. Jessi had to catch the bus before 6:30am for Mequon (near Milwaukee). I decided not to go in leau of catching up on the home front. My husband did a 1/2 marathon and got 213th place (out of more than a thousand). He mentioned wishing I could run too, but the best I can do is cheer and take pictures.
I spent my morning going through a week's worth of mail, sitting by the fire, sipping coffee, listening to the rain fall. I burnt a pile of election post cards, a ton of college inquiry pamplets and a good lot of bill envelopes. While enjoy burning the envelopes, I don't necessarily enjoy paying bills on line. I have almost everything automated at this point, so it's a lot of just making sure and noticing there isn't anything left. My afternoon was errand running and a yoga class.
Moni was out in the wee hours of the morn with the tennis team girls. She reported she had a run with the law while painting the rock. I always wondered if kids would ever get in trouble for that and now I know, it isn't the spray painting that is the issue, it's the breaking curfew (in Madison that's being out after midnight on the weekends). The girls were all very polite and the officer asked them to hurry up and finish-- which quite honestly, is permission to finish. -- but they were just about done when caught. She got up after 10am and went out to the race area to volunteer entering the full marathon runners times.
Jessi got home after dinner with 3 medals from her meet... she did well with hope of only getting better in the next month. She went to the movies with friends after, leaving my husband and I home alone again by the fire, this time watching our favorite-- Datline.
